Good practice in genealogy is a matter of experience and logic – with a big dollop of concentration and patience thrown in.
With over 40 years’ experience (having gained a qualification en-route by way of the IHGS Higher Certificate in Genealogy) I have learned that genealogy is not simply written in a book that anyone can pick up, learn and revise (though good books do help). Genealogy is “on-the-move” on a daily basis! New databases and datasets appear every day, in a myriad of locations and formats, hence, I strive for knowledge every day and do that by searching out what’s new online, reading the latest magazines, joining various societies, attending local family history society meetings, and by embarking on training courses for specific topics.
I offer you all my experience, coupled with the knowledge that I will do my upmost to find your ancestors, solve your problem or break down that carbon-based wall that’s been staring you in the face for years!
If you require a small task, I recommend you conduct business with me via my standard hourly rate, this will ensure that your costs remain low.
I will report back to you on time and according to your instructions.
I charge a fixed fee for a full family history package. This can be purchased stand-alone for yourself, or can make a great gift for a special someone

What I will require from you in return is half the (agreed) fee paid in advance, in order to cover costs such as ordering certificates etc, with the remainder paid upon delivery of the finished work.
